Only 2% Candidates Qualified For CTET 2014

CTET 2014 results have been declared and only 2% candidates have passed the exam. Common Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national level entrance exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as a criterion for students to become teachers. The paper 1 test is conducted for candidates to teach between I-V and the paper 2 for VI-VIII. Candidates need to pass both the paper 1 and 2 in ordered to teach from class I-VIII.

The government introduced the CTET in 2011 to improve the education standards across the country. But the pass percentage of each year is not good. If we compared to last year result, this year has improved as the pass percentage increased by 1% which is a positive sign for the officials. Lots of complaints were received by the officials in the previous years as the questions are so tough and the duration of the exam must be extended. Finally this year, the officials had implemented the changes and they can see the change in the result.

But still compared to other exams in the country this is too low. CTET 2014 held on February 16, 2014 and CBSE took almost one month to publish the results. 8.26 Lakhs students registered for the exam which is an improvement over the years, but only 7.50 Lakhs appeared for the exam. Even though CBSE has given lots of centers for the exams, more than 75,000 candidates couldn't make it on time and also lack of centers.

The officials have also published the exact number of qualified students which stands at 13,428. Most of the students among them have qualified both the paper 1 and 2 exams. CBSE has already started preparing for the next year with lots more improvements for the exam to improve the pass percentage. The CTET 2014 certificate is valid for 7 years and also the candidate can appear again to improve their scores.
